Office Environment !

While I was going through the daily tweets, I came across one, which mentioned the Blog of the day as " http://familypennypincher.blogspot.com/" .  Apart from its contents, what attracted me at the site  was the facilities available for the visitors to this museum:
Location: Wilmington, DE (directions)
Bathrooms: Yes
Eating area: YES, inside cafeteria and outdoor patio
Parking: Yes and free
Attractions: life-sized dinosaurs, sea-life and shell exhibit, nature trail and butterfly garden
Fee: ONE DOLLAR every Tuesday in August!!

Against this, my mind immediately rushed to a very popular complex I had the misfortune to visit yesterday accompanying my wife. The office complex houses many central  government offices, right in the midst of Chennai and is frequented by hundreds of people with appointment. The public wanting to transact business there start lining  up right from 7 AM even though the office opens only at 9:30  and one could see young and old, infants and women standing in the open exposed to the harsh morning sun of August. I was only hoping that it does not rain, as they cannot even move an inch lest they will lose their turn in the queue- Yes, there was nothing above to protect the visitors against rain or shine , though they have paid in advance and booked through internet for an appointment on that day!

When we moved inside the office, it was more looking like some of the Government Hospitals in the city, with many people squatting on the floor, not minding their nice attire . The whole overcrowded place was suffocating  and reeking with sweat, though the leaves of some fans kept symbolically were moving leisurely and the noise of the crowd running helter skelter in desperation was overwhelming. Soon, one could see old people dozing off  and women with babes in the arm were trying desperately to pacify the infant clearly irritated by the stuffy room and the noise.

There were no provisions for drinking water and the rest room was so stinking that people chose to hold on to themselves.  There was a lonely cafeteria clearly ill equipped to handle the crowd and was turning away the people even at 1: 30 PM, with a 'No Stock' sign. The lone milk parlor and an employees' sponsored shop was minting money with whatever they have at whatever price they chose to spell , realizing the Hobson's choice of the people.

The visitors vehicles were parked everywhere and after sometime there was chaos as neither the parked cars could be taken out, nor new ones could come in. When are we going to learn ??
